IHOP (International House of Pancakes)

http://www.ihop.com/
4801 Texas 121

The Colony, TX 75056-2916

They waited patiently for their food. Such good boys. :-)

Aaron chose the Crispy Chicken Strips and he picked fruit instead of fries without me suggesting it. (Who says you can't teach kids to make healthy choices.) He liked the strips so much he wanted another serving.

Donovan chose the "Spooky Face" it was Friday before Halloween when we went but he didn't want to put the candy corn on it. :0) He poured strawberry syrup on it to look like blood before he ate it. What a creative kid I have. :-)

Rod ordered the buttermilk pancakes. They looked so good and disappeared quickly.

The crepes were filled with what tasted like cream cheese and cottage cheese and was barely warm. The strawberries on top were cold. So I wasn't really happy with my meal. I really expected it hot.

I did like the hot chocolate though. MMMMMmmmm

The service was okay. We had to wave down the waiter a couple of times to get refills and such. The meal came out pretty quick and the prices are reasonable at IHOP and the "Spooky Pancake" was free today.

Redneck Heaven

http://www.redneckheaven.com/

2501 S Stemmons Fwy

Lewisville, TX 75067-8758
(For those that live outside Texas Stemmons Fwy is also I-35)
I can't tell you how bad I was confused when I was first driving and didn't reallize a lot of roads have two names. I think it's crazy but it's just how it is.

I liked how they did the outside of the building in barn red with tin awnings.

They have a place to sit and watch a big screen t.v. if you don't want to sit at a table or bar which is kinda nice a little too dark for me though.

Of course on the walls you will find all kinds of car hoods, signs and bar logos.

You can play pool here or video games.

This is my favorite bar sign.

Loved the repica hood from Smokey and the Bandit.

I thought this was just too funny. :0)

The windmill in the middle of the room was differant. I wish it pumped water or something. That would have made it neat.

The chips tasted fresh out of  a bag. You aren't going to get fresh fried one here. The avacodo was fresh made but it had no flavor to it. There wasn't any tomatoe, onion or jalapano in it either. The salsa was unrememberable as I can't tell you what it tasted like now.

The cheese sticks tasted straight out of a box and were okay but they could have been heated more.

It seems they weren't fried long enough to really melt the cheese. Either that or they have been sitting out a long time.
I feel really lucky to have gotten to enjoy my friends company for lunch this day and also that they don't mind too much that I take pictures of their food.

Laredo Chicken~ It had to be the best thing that I tasted at the table not including what Dale had ordered because I didn't taste his burger. It is a blackened chicken breast topped with queso, bacon and mushrooms. Genia ordered sweetpotatoe fries to go with it and green beans. I felt like the green beans were over cooked but she liked them.

If I ever go again I am ordering this. :0)

Dale ordered the "Pimp My Chicken Sandwich!" You get to pick what you want on it. You have a choice of

- Char-grilled, Blackened or Chicken Fried? - Kaiser roll or Texas Toast

- Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle, Onion - Wing sauce - Dressing, Mayo, or Mustard.

- American or Cheddar cheese and/or Bacon

I didn't get a bite but it looked good.

Rodney ordered the Veggie Wrap it comes with lettuce, tomato, guacamole and cheese.

Believe it or not it was fresh "guacamole". Their quacamole is just mashed avocados.

I couldn't resist ordering the fried “Full of Baloney” bologna sandwich – A Lewisville Fire Department
Favorite!(Or so they claim.) Topped with melted American cheese.
It was served hot and it wasn't bad just a bit too salty though for me.

I hadn't had one since I was a kid. It was a bigger sandwich than I thought it would be and I only ate half. It was thin sliced bologna and the bun was grilled but the meat was really salty. Not that I eaten bologna alot but I don't remember it being so salty when my mom made it. :0)

The one on the left was our waitress. All the waitresses stopped by the table to see if we needed anything and I really liked that. All in all it wasn't a bad experiance but it isn't a place that I am just dying to go back because of the food. It is a good bar that serves mediocre food and has some pretty and friendly waitresses.

Cafe Brazil

http://cafebrazil.com/

200 Coit Road Suite #112,
Plano, Texas 75075

I really liked how the inside of this Cafe Brazil was decorated. Lots of color everywhere.

The waitress was not as attentive as I thought she should be but I am one of those that likes my tea refilled without me asking. The service here was better than the Cafe Brazil in Carrollton, Texas.

My friend, Genia, had the Grilled Cheese which has asiago, cheddar, monterrey jack and feta cheeses on it. She also chose to have sliced avacado and tomato on it. (It is something I am going to try my next visit.) The sandwich is served with chipsand a pickle.

It just looks so yummy!

I chose the angel hair pasta with vegetables and had grilled chicken added. It is served with french bread. (The order is so big you will be taking half home for a late night snack.)

It is just full of broccoli, bell peppers, mushrooms and feta.

The rosemary potatoes are one of my favorites at Cafe Brazil. I get it every time I go and they are always good.
MMMMMmmmmm...

This was the Chocolate Indulgence cake. Most of it was really yummy but I didn't like the thick layer of hard chocolate at the bottom.
I thought taking the time to drizzle chocolate on to the cake was great.

They plated the desserts quite nicely.
This Banana Chocolate Chip cake was wonderful! (Just so creamy good!)

Cosmic Cafe

http://www.cosmiccafedallas.com/

2912 OAK LAWN AVN,
DALLAS, TEXAS 75219

This is probably the most colorful cafe I have been to yet. It is so busily deocorated, made it really fun to look around and see what you could find painted on the walls and ceiling.

I can only imagine the hours it took to paint this place.

There is a place upstairs that you can go and meditate if you like. I will get some pics of that the next time we go.

One of the walls outside.

We started with samosas, they are potato & pea pastries slightly spiced with curry and served with mint & tamarind chutney. Rod ordered the hibiscus tea which was delicious. Hibiscus tea has a tart, cranberry-like flavor that I found quite tasty even without sugar. (And just a small side note on this tea, it contains vitamin C and minerals and is used traditionally as a mild medicine.

These were so yummy! Fried a golden bown it had a nice crispy outside that opens up into a tasty center.

The hummus plate was our second choice for the appitizer. Ground garbanzos mixed with garlic, tahini, and lemon juice make a wonderful dip. It is served with nan which is a flat bread. It is one of my favorites.

Rod ordered the buddhas delight it is curried vegetables, dahl, samosa, pappadam, basamic rice and nan. All the food was delicious but they were really sloppy with the presentation of the food. In my opinion if you are
going to make such wonderful foods you should care how it looks being served to the customer.
From the top it looks perfect. :0)

My order was spinach enchiladas; three red corn tortillas filled with yummy spinach and topped with cheese sauce. It's served with black beans, basamic rice and a salad.

I wasn't asked about what dressing I wanted so I am guessing you don't have a choice. It is served with olive oil and basamic vinager. I felt like the plate was too small for the serving as the bowl of black beans was on top of one of the enchiladas. I feel like they should have used a bigger plate or smaller bowl. Other than the black beans needing onion or garlic added to it the food was delicious I have no other complaints and I can't wait to visit here again.

I loved the water glasses, non breakable stainless steal would be perfect with kids.

I ordered a smoothie which was a wonderful mix of frozen bananas and apple juice blended with mango. You could get strawberry or blueberry if you wanted but I like mango best.

I just had to try this nan dessert. It is called raisin consciousness and it is a blend of thinly sliced apples, strawberrys, carmelized raisins, walnuts, honey and cream cheese on nan.

It was so delicious!

The waitress was wonderful and quick to come by and ask how everything was. The prices are bit high for what you get but the food is worth it. The bill for this meal was just over $40.00.
